INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human CD21 concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. CD21, also known as complement receptor 2 (CR2), is a 145 kDa transmembrane protein that contains 15 tandem SCR/SUSHI repeats. CD21 is primarily expressed on B cells, follicular dendritic cells, and T cells. It binds the complement component fragments iC3b, C3d, and C3d,g and forms complexes with CD19 and CD35. CD21 is required for germinal center development, antibody production, and B cell tolerance. It also functions as a cellular uptake receptor for Epstein-Barr virus.

Storage

• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.
