INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human Endothelin-1 concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is produced by many tissues including lung, kidney, brain, endocrine glands, and placenta. It is also expressed by several cell types including, mast cells, endothelial cells, epithelial and smooth muscle cells. The most prominent source is vascular endothelium. ET-1 is best known as a potent vasoconstrictor. Elevated blood ET-1 levels are associated with a variety of diseases, possibly as a function of a stress response.

Shipping Conditions

The product is shipped with polar packs. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.

Storage

• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.
