INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human Reg3A concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. Please refer to the lot specific certificate of analysis and Simple Plex Lyophilized Quality Control product insert for additional information.
The Reg family constitutes a subset of the calcium-dependent C-type lectin superfamily. These small, secreted proteins have been implicated in a range of physiological processes including acting as acute phase reactants, lectins, survival/growth factors for insulin-producing pancreatic beta-cells, neural cells, and epithelial cells of the digestive system. Studies also indicate a role for Reg family members in tumor formation and indicate their potential for use as biomarkers of carcinogenesis.
Reg3A also named lithostathine 3 and pancreatitis-associated protein 2, belongs to the Regenerating gene family of C-type lectins. Reg3 is overexpressed during the acute phase of pancreatitis.
