MRPL44, or Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L44, consists of a 332 amino acid isoform that is 38 kDa, and is involved in protein synthesis as a part of the 39S mitochondrial ribosome subunit. Disease research is currently being conducted to determine the relationship between MRPL44 and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The protein has been linked to RNA processing, and interacts with IMMT, SETDB1, VIM, USP22, and CEP70.
