PC4 interacts with general transcription factors, DNA repair factors, and mRNA processing factors to influence transcription initiation, coactivation, polyadenylation, transcription termination, and transcriptional repression. PC4 has been demonstrated to be a DNA binding protein and a bona fide component of chromatin with chromatin-compacting ability.
