Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: CD53 Antibody (161-2 (53/2)) - Chimeric [NBP3-12077] - Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed Daudi cells on Shi-fix(TM) coverslips stained with the chimeric rabbit IgG version of 161-2 (53/2) (NBP3-12077) at 10 ug/ml for 1h followed by Alexa Fluor(R) 488 secondary antibody (2 ug/ml), showing membrane staining. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Panels show from left-right, top-bottom NBP3-12077, DAPI, merged channels and an isotype control. The isotype control was an unknown specificity antibody followed by staining with Alexa Fluor(R) 488 secondary antibody.

Background: CD53

The antibody reacts with CD53 antigen, a glycoprotein of 32-40 kDa belonging to the tetraspans family (TM4SF). CD53 antigen is exclusivelly expressed on leucocytes (not present on platelets, red blood cells and non-hematopoietic cells). CD53 is important for signal transduction. CD53 cross-linking promotes activation of human B cells and rat macrophages.
