Reactivity Notes

Please note that this antibody is reactive to Mouse and derived from the same host, Mouse. Mouse-On-Mouse blocking reagent may be needed for IHC and ICC experiments to reduce high background signal. You can find these reagents under catalog numbers PK-2200-NB and MP-2400-NB. Please contact Technical Support if you have any questions.

Cell Membrane and Cytoplasmic

Specificity

Recognizes most of the basic (Type II) keratins, HMW cytokeratins. It is broadly reactive and stains positively almost all epithelia and their neoplasms. AE3 reacts with all layers of epidermis (basal layer and above). The antibody is an excellent marker for distinguishing carcinomas from non-epithelial tumours. It has been used for studying the immunolocalisation of epidermal keratins, tissue distribution of keratins, various diseases of epidermis, oral mucosa and other epithelia and other epithelia development.

Scientific Data Images for Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (AE3) - BSA Free

Flow Cytometry: Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (AE3) - BSA Free [NB120-9287]

Flow Cytometry: Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (AE3) - BSA Free [NB120-9287]

Flow Cytometry: Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (AE3) [NB120-9287] - An intracellular stain was performed on A431 cells with Cytokeratin 8 Antibody [AE3] NB120-9287AF488 (blue) and a matched isotype control (orange). Cells were fixed with 4% PFA and then permeabilized with 0.1% saponin. Cells were incubated in an antibody dilution of 5 ug/mL for 30 minutes at room temperature. Both antibodies were conjugated to Alexa Fluor 488.

Background: Cytokeratin 8

Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filaments and characterized by remarkable biochemical diversity. Cytokeratins are represented in epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides, molecular weight between 40 kDa and 68 kDa. The individual cytokeratin polypeptides are designated 1 to 20 and divided into the type I (acidic cytokeratins 9-20) and type II (basic to neutral cytokeratins 1-8) families.
