WB: Approx. 22 kDa band observed in mouse liver lysates (calculated MW of 27.5 kDa band according to NP_035307.1). An additional band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 48 kDa. Both bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background: Kallikrein 6/Neurosin

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Kallikrein 6, or KLK6, shows activity against amyloid precursor protein, myelin basic protein, gelatin, casein and extracellular matrix proteins such as fibronectin, laminin, vitronectin and collagen. It degrades alpha-synuclein and prevents its polymerization, indicating that it may be involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson disease and other synucleinopathies. KLK6 may be involved in regulation of axon outgrowth following spinal cord injury. KLK6 has also been shown to promote cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and is upregulated in several types of cancers including colon and ovarian cancers.
