Background: LAR

PTPRF, also known as Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase F, is a 213kDa 1907 amino acid protein with a shorter 212kDa 1898 isoform. PTPRF is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family and functions as a possible cell adhesion receptor. Research is being conducted on PTPRF in relation to melanoma, carcinoma, retinitis, thyroid carcinoma, ureterocele, lung cancer, breast cancer and obesity. PTPRF is linked to the cell adhesion and insulin signaling pathways where it interacts with CAV1, PRPF40A, SKIL, ZNF512B and JUP.
