WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 38 kDa band in human testis, tonsil and thymus lysates after 0.1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 92.9 kDa band according to the smallest reported isoform NP_002432.1. The 38 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Human testis shows nuclear staining in spermatocytes.
Please Note: Optimal dilutions of this antibody should be experimentally determined.

Background: MSH5

This gene encodes a member of the mutS family of proteins that are involved in DNA mismatch repair or meiotic recombination processes. This protein is similar to a Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein that participates in meiotic segregation fidelity and crossing-over. This protein forms heterooligomers with another member of this family, mutS homolog 4. Alternative splicing results in four transcript variants encoding three different isoforms.
