Scientific Data Images for NF-L Antibody (7D1)

Western Blot: NF-L Antibody (7D1) [NBP2-50612]

Western Blot: NF-L Antibody (7D1) [NBP2-50612]

Western Blot: NF-L Antibody [NBP2-50612] - Western blot analysis of different tissue lysates using NBP2-50612 to NF-L, MCA-7D1, in green: [1] protein standard (red), [2] rat brain, [3] rat spinal cord, [4] mouse brain, and [5] mouse spinal cord. The strong band at 68kDa corresponds to the NF-L protein.
Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence: NF-L Antibody (7D1) [NBP2-50612]

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence: NF-L Antibody (7D1) [NBP2-50612]

Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: NF-L Antibody [NBP2-50612] - Immunofluorescent analysis of a section of mouse cerebellum stained with NBP2-50612 in green, and co-stained with a chicken polyclonal antibody to FOX2 in red. The blue is DAPI staining of nuclear DNA. Following transcardial perfusion of mouse with 4% paraformaldehyde, brain was post fixed for 24 hours, cut to 45uM, and free-floating sections were stained with above antibodies. NF-L antibody labels dendrites and axons of neuronal cells predominantly axons in white matter and basket cell axons associated with Purkinje cells. The FOX2 antibody reveals protein expressed in a subset of neurons, including the Purkinje cells.

Applications for NF-L Antibody (7D1)

Application
Recommended Usage

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence

Background: NF-L

Neuronal intermediate filaments or neurofilaments are found specifically in neurons where they play a key role in maintaining neuronal morphology as well as in regenerating myelinated axons. Neurofilaments contain three subunits: a light polypeptide (NEFL/NFL), a medium polypeptide (NEFM/NFM), and a heavy polypeptide (NEFH/NFH), with molecular weights of 68, 160, and 212 kD respectively. 68kD Neurofilament Light (NEFL) is the most abundant of three neurofilament proteins and, like other nonepithelial intermediate filament proteins, it can form homopolymeric 10-nm filaments. NEFL forms the backbone of neurofilament and perturbations in its expression leads to motor neuron diseases, such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, type 2E (CMT2E). In addition to its influence on the nervous system, NEFL has been shown to act as a tumor suppressor and has been linked to carcinogenesis/metastasis of several malignancues including breast, prostate, lung, colon, and bladder cancer.
