Immunohistochemistry: Plasminogen Antibody [NBP2-19859] - Expression of plasminogen/plasmin (NBP2-19859) in normal and PCOS mouse ovaries. Representative histological images are from normal (control) (Ai, Aiii) or PCOS ovaries (Aii, Aiv) stained with an anti-plasminogen/plasmin antibody. The scale bar represents 500 um for Ai, Aii and 100 um for Aiii, Aiv. Right: Top: Negative control for plasminogen/plasmin on mouse liver; Middle: Graphical representation comparing the percentage of ovarian staining (Area Fraction ROI) for plasminogen/plasmin and plasminogen alone between normal and PCOS ovaries for 6 replicates of each experimental group (mean +/- SD) and Bottom: Negative control for plasminogen alone on mouse liver Image collected and cropped by CiteAb from the following publication (https://rbej.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12958-019-0472-0) licensed under a CC-BY license.

Background: Plasminogen

Plasminogen (PLG) is a circulating zymogen that is converted to the active enzyme plasmin by cleavage of the peptide bond between arg560 and val561, which is mediated by urokinase (PLAU; MIM 191840) and tissue plasminogen activator (PLAT; MIM 173370). The main function of plasmin is to dissolve fibrin (see, e.g., FGA, MIM 134820) clots. Plasmin, like trypsin, belongs to the family of serine proteinases (Miyata et al., 1982 [PubMed 6216475]; Forsgren et al., 1987 [PubMed 3030813]).[supplied by OMIM]
