Immunoprecipitation:SPTLC1 AntibodyNBP3-29854] -Detection of human SPTLC1 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded)from HeLa cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-SPTLC1 antibody NBP3-29854 (lot NBP3-29854-1) used for IP at 6 µg/mg lysate. SPTLC1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-SPTLC1., which recognizes an upstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated SPTLC1, NBP3-29854 was used at 1.0 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: SPTLC1

Serine palmitoyltransferase, which consists of two different subunits, is the key enzyme in sphingolipid biosynthesis. It converts L-serine and palmitoyl-CoA to 3-oxosphinganine with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate as a cofactor. The product of this gene is the long chain base subunit 1 of serine palmitoyltransferase. Mutations in this gene were identified in patients with hereditary sensory neuropathy type 1. Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. (provided by RefSeq)
