Key information: BDY FL, SE is a fluorescent green BDY (BODIPY® or boron-dipyrromethene) dye supplied with an NHS ester reactive group for the labeling of primary amines. The hydrophobic nature of BDY FL makes it ideal for labeling lipids and cell membranes.
Application: BDY FL, SE exhibits a narrow emission bandwidth and has a relatively long excited-state lifetime, making it ideal for fluorescence polarization assays and two-photon excitation (TPE) microscopy.
Properties and Photophysical Data: Displays high fluorescence quantum yield and high extinction coefficient and is relatively insensitive to pH change. This dye contains a C3 alkyl spacer between the fluorophore and the NHS ester group, reducing the potential for interactions between fluorophore and conjugated biomolecule. Exhibits similar excitation and emission spectra to dye FITC. Excitation and emission maxima (λ) are 502 nM and 510 nM, respectively; quantum yield = 0.97; extinction coefficient = 80,000 M-1cm-1 (measured in TFE plus 0.1% TFA); A280 = 0.027.
For more information on how BDY FL, SE may be used, see our protocol: Conjugation Protocol for Amine Reactive Dyes.
It is recommended to prepare stock solutions in DMSO.
