Product Specifications

Description

Bovine pancreatic deoxyribonuclease is an endonuclease which splits phosphodiester linkages, preferentially adjacent to a pyrimidine nucleotide yielding polynucleotides with free hydroxyl group at the 3' position and phosphate group at the 5' position.

Source: Native protein purified from Bovine Pancreas

Activity: >=2,000 Kunitz units per mg dry weight. One Unit causes an increase in absorbance at 260 nm of 0.001 per minute per ml at 25°C when acting upon highly polymerized DNA at pH 5.0

Purity

>80% by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie blue staining

Predicted Molecular Mass

31.3 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Background: DNASE1

DNASE1, also known as Deoxyribonuclease 1, is an endonuclease found in the zymogen granules of the nuclear envelope. Responsible for DNA fragmentation and cell death during apoptosis, DNASE1 binds to G-actin and blocks actin polymerization. Mutations in DNASE1 cause systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease causing inflammation and tissue damage. DNASE1 is also known to treat symptoms of cystic fibrosis.
