Background: EGF

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is the founding member of the EGF family of growth factors. Mature EGF is generated by proteolytic release of a juxtamembrane domain within the transmembrane EGF precursor. It is present in a wide variety of body fluids. EGF binds the receptor ErbB1 and induces signaling through ErbB1 homodimers or heterodimers with ErbB2. It plays a key role in epithelial morphogenesis, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis.

Product Specific Notices for Recombinant Rat EGF Protein

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. This product is guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.
