Background: Endostatin

Endostatin is a proteolytic fragment of type XVIII collagen. It inhibits endothelial cell growth, angiogenesis, and wound healing. It also induces the production of the vasorelaxant nitric oxide by endothelial and smooth muscle cells. These actions contribute to the ability of endostatin to block the progression of a wide variety of tumors.
