ART5: Proteins and Enzymes

ART5 belongs to the mammalian mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase (ART) family, named for the enzymatic reaction that some of its members - including ART5 - catalyze: the transfer of a single ADP-ribose residue from NAD+ to arginine in the extracellular acceptor protein. Unlike other ARTs, ART5 is thought to be secreted rather than membrane-bound. The effects of the reversible post-translational modification catalyzed by these ectoenzymes are currently under investigation.
