CRMB: Proteins and Enzymes

CRMB is one of several cytokine response modifiers encoded by poxviruses such as variola (the causative agent of human smallpox). It has an N-terminal domain that binds TNF and lymphotoxin alpha and a C-terminal domain that binds several chemokines. CRM proteins shield poxviruses from proinflammatory and antiviral immune responses.
