LRIG1: cDNA Clones
LRIG1 (leucine-rich repeat and Ig-like domain-containing-1) is a 145 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that shares 45 - 50% amino acid (aa) identity with two other mammalian LRIG proteins. LRIG1 shows highest expression in subsets of glial cells in brain, and certain epithelia in liver, stomach, small intestine and skeletal muscle. Within the cell, LRIG1 is expressed in the perinuclear region as well as on the surface. LRIG1 binds ErbB receptors and promotes their ubiquitination, internalization and destruction.
