Musashi-1: Proteins and Enzymes
Members of the Musashi family are evolutionarily conserved RNA binding proteins. Musashi-1 and -2 both contain two RNP-type RNA recognition motifs and display similar binding specificity. They are widely expressed and play roles in neural, hair follicle, and germline stem cell regulation. Musashi-1 is an RNA-binding protein that is expressed in the developing central nervous system. Expression of Musashi-1 is highest in proliferating multipotent neural precursor cells and decreases during neuronal differentiation.
