TAS2R41: Proteins and Enzymes

The TAS2R41 gene encodes a taste receptor type 2 member 41 protein that is 307 amino acids long at nearly 36 kDA. This receptor obtains the ability to identify the perception of bitterness as it obtains the capabilities of tasting glucosinolates. Additionally, it is thought that this receptor can stimulate alpha gustducin in order to mediate PLC-beta-2 activation. In doing so, it assists the gating of TRPM5. Therefore, the TAS2R41 gene participates in taste transduction as well as bitter taste signaling.
