TGF-beta 1, 2, 3: Luminex Assays

TGF-beta 1, -2 and -3 are highly pleiotropic cytokines that act as cellular switches to regulate immune function, proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition.TGF-beta associates with LAP after secretion, and this complex is covalently linked to one of three latent TGF-beta binding proteins (LTBPs). TGF-beta is activated from latency by Plasmin, matrix metalloproteases, Thrombospondin 1, or a subset of integrins. TGF-beta signals through a complex of TGF-beta RII and either TGF-beta RI/ALK-5 or ALK-1. TGF-beta induced signaling is modulated by the accessory proteins Betaglycan/TGF-beta RIII and Endoglin.
