UNC5H1: Proteins and Enzymes
Members of the UNC5H family are best known as receptors for the axon guidance molecule netrin. Structurally, UNC5Hs have two Ig and two thrombospondin type 1 domains in their extracellular region, and a conserved ZU-5 domain, a deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC)-binding domain, and a C-terminal death domain in their cytoplasmic region. In general, they mediate the chemorepulsive effects of netrin, while the other netrin receptor subtype, DCC, mediates attraction. Members of the UNC5H family have also been implicated as tumor suppressors and regulators of apoptosis.
