136R: Proteins and Enzymes

136R is a secreted protein encoded by the Yaba-like disease virus genome. 136R binds directly to type I and type III interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-lambda). It prevents the interaction of rhesus and human IFN-alpha as well as human IFN-beta with the IFN-gamma R1 complex. 136R blocks STAT1 signaling and the anti-viral protective functions of IFN-alpha, -beta, -omega, -kappa, and -lambda 1/IL-29.
