Immunoprecipitation:Acetyl CoA synthetase AntibodyNBP3-30346] -Detection of human ACSS2 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from Hep-G2 cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-ACSS2 antibody NBP3-30346 (lot NBP3-30346-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. ACSS2 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-ACSS2.. For blotting immunoprecipitated ACSS2, NBP3-30346 was used at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: Acetyl CoA synthetase

Acetyl CoA synthetase encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the activation of acetate for use in lipid synthesis and energy generation. The protein acts as a monomer and produces acetyl-CoA from acetate in a reaction that requires ATP. Expression of this gene is regulated by sterol regulatory element-binding proteins, transcription factors that activate genes required for the synthesis of cholesterol and unsaturated fatty acids. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
