Western Blot: Ancient ubiquitous protein 1 Antibody [NBP1-49916] - Detection of Human AUP1 by Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Samples: Whole cell lysate from HeLa (5, 15 and 50 mcg for WB; 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) and 293T (T; 50 mcg) cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-AUP1 antibody used for WB at 0.1 mcg/ml (A) and 1 mcg/ml (B) and used for IP at 3 mcg/mg lysate. AUP1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-AUP1 antibody BL10556, which recognizes an upstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated AUP1 wase used. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure times of 3 minutes (A) and 10 seconds (B).

Background: Ancient ubiquitous protein 1

This gene encodes a protein that contains a domain with homology to the ancient conserved region of the archain 1 gene and a domain that may be involved in binding ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes. The protein encoded by this gene has been shown to bind to the conserved membrane-proximal sequence of the cytoplasmic tail of integrin alpha(IIb) subunits. These subunits play a crucial role in the integrin alpha(IIb)beta(3) inside-out signaling in platelets and megakaryocytes that leads to platelet aggregation and thrombus formation. This gene overlaps the gene for mitochondrial serine protease 25.
