WB: Approx 40 kDa band observed in human brain (cerebellum), Liver and skeletal muscle lysates (calculated MW of 46.2 kDa according to NP_002070.1). The observed molecular weight corresponds to earlier findings in literature with different antibodies (PMID: 2185471). IHC: Human heart shows strong staining of the capillary network between the myocardial fibres in transverse secion.

Background: Aspartate Aminotransferase

Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme which exists in cytoplasmic and mitochondrial forms, GOT1 and GOT2, respectively. GOT plays a role in amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles. The two enzymes are homodimeric and show close homology. [provided by RefSeq]
