Background: Butyrylcholinesterase/BCHE

Butyrylcholinesterase (BtChE, EC 3.1.1.8.) is synthetizised in the liver, and is predominantly found in serum, liver and pancreas. Butyrylcholinesterase is a tetrameric glycoprotein (molecular mass of 350 kDa), and consists of four subunits, each with molecular mass of 90 kDa (1).

Alternate Names

Acylcholine acylhydrolase, BCHE, Butyrylcholine esterase, CHE1, Pseudocholinesterase
