Western blot: Approx. 35kDa and 22-23kDa bands observed in Human Brain (Frontal Cortex) lysates (calculated MW of 23.2kDa according to NP_001825.1). The observed molecular weight of ~35kDa corresponds to earlier findings in literature with different antibodies (Okamoto et al, Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2000 Sep;279(3):C833-51.; PMID: 10942733).Primary incubation was 1 hour.

Background: Clathrin light chain + heavy chain

Clathrin is a large, soluble protein composed of heavy and light chains. It functions as the main structural component of the lattice-type cytoplasmic face of coated pits and vesicles which entrap specific macromolecules during receptor-mediated endocytosis. This gene encodes one of two clathrin light chain proteins which are believed to function as regulatory elements. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Transcript Variant: This variant (1) lacks alternate in-frame exons, compared to variant 2, resulting in a shorter protein (isoform a), compared to isoform b.
