Scientific Data Images for Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 Antibody

Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 antibody by Western Blot.

Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 by Western Blot.

Western blot shows lysates of HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line and human liver tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5546) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 at approximately 37 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.
Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 antibody by Simple WesternTM.

Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 by Simple WesternTM.

Simple Western lane view shows lysates of human liver tissue, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 at approximately 38 kDa (as indicated) using 10 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5546) followed by 1:50 dilution of HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF109). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system.

Background: Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1A1/SULT1A1

Cytosolic sulfotransferases catalyze the sulfonation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. They are distinct from Golgi resident sulfotransferases by the absence of transmembrane domains and are located in the cytoplasm (1, 2). SULT1A1 is one of two phenol sulfotransferases with thermostable enzyme activity (2). The enzyme is more specific for sulfonation on catecholamines, phenolic drugs and neurotransmitters (3). Because of its ability to modify diverse promutagen and procarcinogen xenobiotics, it is implicated in a range of cancers (2). The crystal structure of the enzyme reveals that its active site is flexible and can accommodate diverse hydrophobic substrates with varying sizes, shapes and flexibility (4).
