Background: RAR beta/NR1B2

Retinoic Acid Receptor beta (RAR beta, hap; NR1B2) is closely related to the Thyroid hormone Receptor (TR). RARs bind to two retinoids, all-trans retinoic acid and 9-cis retinoic acid. RAR beta is expressed in the ovary, uterus, mammary cell lines, and adult and fetal spleen. RARs have been associated with several diseases, among which cancer is one of the most important. RAR beta takes part in apoptosis.
