Background: ROR alpha/NR1F1

Retinoic acid-related Orphan Receptor alpha (ROR alpha, RZR alpha, RORA; NR1F1) is a member of the Orphan Nuclear Receptor family. ROR alpha is expressed in the lung, muscle, brain, heart, peripheral blood leukocytes, spleen, liver, and ovary. ROR alpha appears to have a general role in cell survival in the central nervous system. Four isoforms are generated from the ROR alpha gene, ROR alpha1 - ROR alpha4.
