Background: HYPB

Histone methylation plays an important role in eukaryotic transcriptional regulation. KMT3A / HYPB (huntingtin interacting protein B) also identified as HIF-1 (huntingtin interacting protein 1) is implicated in the pathogenesis of Huntington disease. KMT3A / HYPB coordinates histone methylation and transcriptional regulation in mammals. The HYPB domains, AWA-SET-PostSET, mediate histone H3 lysine 36 specific HMTase activity. The C-terminal of HYPB protein is important for its interaction with hyperphosphorylated RNA polymerase II.
