Background: MYST1

MOF is a member of the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases (HAT). MOF has been shown to be required for histone H4 lysine K16-specific acetylation. MOF interacts with ATM (ataxia-telangiectasia-mutated) and may participate in the activation of ATM in response to DNA damage. Alternate names for MOF include MYST protein 1, MYST1, hMOF, and ortholog of Drosophila males absent on the first (MOF).
