Product Specifications

Immunogen

Phospho-Talin1 (Ser-425) synthetic peptide (coupled to carrier protein) corresponding to amino acids surrounding Ser-425 in human Talin1. This sequence is conserved in rat, mouse, and chicken Talin1, as well as in Talin2 (Ser-428). [UniProt# Q9Y490]

Modification

p Ser425

Specificity

The antibody detects a 240 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of Talin1 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human A431, rat PC12, and rabbit fibroblast cells treated with Calyculin A, but is not observed after lambda phosphatase treatment.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Host

Rabbit

Isotype

IgG

Theoretical MW

240 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Background: Talin1

Talin 1 encodes a cytoskeletal protein which is concentrated in areas of cell-substratum and cell-cell contacts. This protein plays a significant role in the assembly of actin filaments and in spreading and migration of various cell types, including fibroblasts and osteoclasts. It codistributes with integrins in the cell surface membrane in order to assist in the attachment of adherent cells to extracellular matrices and of lymphocytes to other cells. The N-terminus of this protein contains elements for localization to cell-extracellular matrix junctions. The C-terminus contains binding sites for proteins such as beta-1-integrin, actin, and vinculin.
