This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Purity

> 97 % pure by SDS-PAGE and HPLC

Endotoxin Level

Less than 1 EU/ug of CXCL12/SDF-1 beta as determined by LAL method.

Predicted Molecular Mass

8.5 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Activity

CXCL1 Protein is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using human peripheral blood monocytes is in a concentration range of 50-100 ng/ml.

Background: CXCL12/SDF-1 beta

CXCL12 also known as SDF-1 is belonging to the CXC chemokine family. Murine CXCL12 is expressed as two isoforms that differ only in the C-terminal tail. Both SDF-1 isoforms undergo proteolytic processing of the first two N-terminal amino acids. In all SDF-1 isoforms, SDF-1 beta is the canonical sequence. It has the complete amino acids in the C-terminal tail. On the cell surface, the receptor for this chemokine is CXCR4 and syndecan4. CXCL12 is strongly chemotactic for T-lymphocytes, monocytes, but not neutrophils. SDF-1 is highly conserved between species, murine CXCL12 beta shares approximately 92 % amino acid sequence identity with human CXCL12 beta.
