Background: Pleiotrophin/PTN

Pleiotrophin, also named heparinbinding brain mitogen (HBBM), is belonging to the heparinbinding proteins family and is encoded by the PTN gene in humans. Pleiotrophin is expressed in an activitydependent manner in the hippocampus. Pleiotrophin expression is low in other areas of the adult brain, but it can be induced by ischemic insults. The cell surfaceexpressed nucleolin is a low affinity receptor for PTN binding to cells and it is also implicated in PTN entry into cells by an active process. Human pleiotrophin shares above 98 % amino acid sequence identity with bovine, rat and murine.

Product Specific Notices for Recombinant Human Pleiotrophin/PTN Protein

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. This product is guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.
