HOXA13: Proteins and Enzymes
HOXA13 is 388 amino acids long, weighing approximately 40 kDa, that functions as a sequence-specific transcription factor which focuses on the specific positional identities of cells on the anterior-posterior axis, which is all part of a developmental regulatory system. Current studies are being done on several diseases and disorders including triphalangeal thumbs brachyectrodactyly, guttmacher syndrome, short stature, hypospadias, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, labryinthitis, leukemia, ulcerative colitis, Hirschsprung's disease, microphthalmia, and vaginitis.HOXA13 has also been shown to have interactions with MEIS1, SMAD2, MEIS2, MEIS3, and SMAD1.
