Ligands are likely small molecules, either sharing some similarities with trace amine as, e.g. derivatives of indolamines (such as 5-methoxytryptamine) or of phenylethylamines (such as phenylethanolamine) or being any kind of metabolite of amino acids or biogenic amine neurotransmitters.
