Regulated by GSTP1 and playing a role in cell activation, WBP2NL is a sperm-specific WW domain-binding protein. It promotes meiotic resumption and may play a role in pronuclear formation during oocyte fertilization. Other biological processes involved with WBP2NL include egg activation, female pronucleus assembly and male pronucleus assembly.
