Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: eIF4A1 Antibody (7C3) [NBP3-15220] - Immunofluorescence staining of Hela Cells with at eIF4A1 antibody 1:50, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeated by 0.2% TritonX-100, and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4C. Nuclear DNA was labeled in blue with DAPI. The secondary antibody was FITC-conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L).

Background: eIF4A1

ATP-dependent RNA helicase which is a subunit of the eIF4F complex involved in cap recognition and isrequired for mRNA binding to ribosome. In the current model of translation initiation, eIF4A unwinds RNA secondarystructures in the 5'-UTR of mRNAs which is necessary to allow efficient binding of the small ribosomal subunit, andsubsequent scanning for the initiator codon
