Background: FCRL2/FcRH2

The FCRL2 gene codes for a member of the immunoglobulin receptor superfamily, a Fc receptor-like protein 2 that has five isoforms: isoform 1: 508 amino acids long, 55 kDA; isoform 2: 255 amino acids long, 27 kDA; isoform 3: 192 amino acids long, 20 kDA; isoform 4L 144 amino acids long, 15 kDA; and isoform 5: 202 amino acids long, 22 kDA. This protein is clustered on the long arm of chromosome 1 and may play a regulatory role in normal as well as neoplastic B cell development. FCRL2 is linked to leukemia, tonsillitis, hepatitis, and HIV type 1.
