Application Notes
Use in Flow reported in scientific literature (PMID:33284818). ELISA: NBP2-21803 binds free glucagon in solution. NBP2-21803 when used as capture antibody forms a sandwich ELISA pair with NBP2-21802B as biotinylated detection antibody for measuring glucagon. IHC: NBP2-21803 was used in IHC in formaline fixed paraffin embedded tissue with a dilution of 1:8000. IF: NBP2-21803 was used in IF with a dilution of 1:4000.

Background: Glucagon

The protein encoded by the Glucagon gene is actually a preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides. One ofthese, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulatingglycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a specific G-protein linked receptor whose signallingpathway controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted from gut endocrine cells and promotenutrient absorption through distinct mechanisms. Finally, the fourth peptide is similar to glicentin, an activeenteroglucagon. (provided by RefSeq)
