Product Specifications

Immunogen

Human erythrocytes

Specificity

NB100-66522 recognizes an epitope in the N-terminal region of CD236, also known as glycophorin C (GPC). CD236 is an integral membrane protein which carries the Gerbich blood group antigens. Expression of CD236 is not restricted to erythroid cells, but is broadly distributed in both erythroid and non-erythroid tissues.

Clonality

Monoclonal

Host

Mouse

Isotype

IgG1

Description

This conjugate is made on demand. Actual recovery may vary from the stated volume of this product. The volume will be greater than or equal to the unit size stated on the datasheet.

Background: Glycophorin C

Glycophorin C (GYPC) is an integral membrane glycoprotein. It is a minor species carried by human erythrocytes, butplays an important role in regulating the mechanical stability of red cells. A number of glycophorin C mutations havebeen described. The Gerbich and Yus phenotypes are due to deletion of exon 3 and 2, respectively. The Webb and Duchantigens, also known as glycophorin D, result from single point mutations of the glycophorin C gene. The glycophorin Cprotein has very little homology with glycophorins A and B.
