Background: Akt3

Akt3 (v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 3), also known as protein kinase B gamma (PKB gamma) and RAC-gamma serine/threonine kinase (RAC-PK-gamma), is a member of the Akt family that also includes Akt1 (PKB alpha) and Akt2 (PKB beta). These highly homologous kinases are central in such diverse cellular processes as glucose uptake, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. All three Akts contain an amino-terminal pleckstrin homology domain, a central kinase domain, and a carboxyl-terminal regulatory domain.
