Background: ATG4B
Autophagy related protein 4 homolog B (ATG4B), also known as autophagin 1 and Apg4b, is a cytosolic cysteine protease that is involved in autophagy, a biological process in which endogenous protein and damaged organelles are destroyed. Human ATG4B shares 98% and 95% amino acid sequence identity with chimpanzee and mouse ATG4B, respectively.
