Scientific Data Images for Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1 Antibody

Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1 antibody by Western Blot.

Detection of Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1 by Western Blot.

Western blot shows lysates of 3T3-L1 mouse embryonic fibroblast adipose-like cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5545) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1 at approximately 37kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

Background: Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 1E1/SULT1E1

Cytosolic Sulfotransferases catalyze the sulfation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. They are distinct from Golgi resident sulfotransferases by the absence of transmembrane domains and are located in the cytoplasm. SULT1E1 is widely known as an estrogen sulfotransferase and may control estrogen levels by converting free estradiol to its inactive sulfate conjugate (1). Known substrates of this enzyme also include dehydroepiandrosterone, pregnenolone, ethinylestradiol, equalenin, diethylstilbesterol, 4-nitrophenol, 1-napthol and resveratrol (2, 3). SULT1E1 activity is found in reproductive organs (4), intestine and liver (3, 5).
