Scientific Data Images for Human PTGDR Antibody

Detection of PTGDR in Human Colon.

PTGDR was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of Human Colon using Mouse Anti-Human PTGDR Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB11249) at 5 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC001). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using VisUCyte Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # VCTS021). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cell surface in epithelial cells. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Background: PTGDR

PTGDR is a G protein-coupled receptor that has been shown to function as a prostanoid DP receptor. PTGDR is expressed in retinal choroid, ciliary epithelium, longitudinal and circular ciliary muscles, iris, small intestine and platelet membranes. The activity of this receptor is mainly mediated by G-S proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase resulting in an elevation of intracellular cAMP and Ca2+. Knockout studies in mice suggest that the ligand of PTGDR, prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), functions as a mast cell-derived mediator to trigger asthmatic responses. Genetic variations in PTGDR are associated with susceptibility to asthma-related traits type 1 (ASRT1). Asthma-related traits include clinical symptoms of asthma, such as coughing, wheezing and dyspnea.
