Immunoprecipitation: Matriptase/ST14 Antibody [NB100-2308]

Immunoprecipitation: Matriptase/ST14 Antibody [NB100-2308] - Detection of human Matriptase/ST14 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from MCF-7 cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-Matriptase/ST14 antibody NB100-2308 used for IP at 6 ug per reaction. Matriptase/ST14 was also immunoprecipitated by Rabbit anti-Matriptase/ST14 antibodies A, B and C. For blotting immunoprecipitated Matriptase/ST14, NB100-2308 was used at 1 ug/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 minutes.

Background: Matriptase/ST14

The protein encoded by this gene is an epithelial-derived, integral membrane serine protease. This protease forms a complex with the Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor, HAI-1, and is found to be activated by sphingosine 1-phosphate. This protease has been shown to cleave and activate hepatocyte growth factor/scattering factor, and urokinase plasminogen activator, which suggest the function of this protease as an epithelial membrane activator for other proteases and latent growth factors. The expression of this protease has been associated with breast, colon, prostate, and ovarian tumors, which implicates its role in cancer invasion, and metastasis.
